I make very few plans these days, being mostly homebound. When I do plan on going out, I always consider that it possibly could happen on another day, weather permitting, depending on how much energy I have. Most at-home tasks are simply done as I feel like doing them. If there's something pressing, I do get to it in time. Truth be told my life is very unstructured right now, with only a few regularly scheduled events.

Like @Mark Wollschlager I could task switch and multitask on the best of them when I was working... I never missed a deadline or failed to follow through.

The example I can think of atm is a realtor—but in general I've wondered how people can manage multiple time-sensitive things in one day, especially when there is travel between them.

TL;DR I have very little sense of time.

I am terrible with calendars and schedules.

I found them so oppressive when I began real work that I requested a work-code to use for the time I wasted filling out my time reports.

I could—I have when it is needed—fitted my schedule into a smaller amount of time; however, one factor that causes it to take longer than it should is a rejection of should, an anti-Calvinism perhaps, a desire to live my life free of the belief that a moment not spent on something that is demonstrably productive—in a narrow meaning of the word—is somehow wasted.

And so I still strive to clear my list of tasks but also strive not to judge if they are not done because I allowed moments of serendipitous joy to stretch between them.

Drove Grimm to his pain specialist today...renew his prescriptions. Took an hour, because of difficulties with the doctor we just saw with stuff he prescribed today le sigh. Then after coming home, Grimm fell forward on the stairs to the apt (we live on the third floor, no elevators.) Going to have to get his face washed, because scuffing his shins on that same carpeting got the spot infected, and he did a face forward fall on that same carpeting scraping his face above the left eye!

Supposedly we are 'due for storms tonight' - SO not expecting anything to happen.

we had pencil and card at Last Job til they put us on Citrix 😒🤬

pencil: write down job numbers, keep track of 5 minutes here or there for each one, tot up at end of day, easy peasy

citrix: licenses are expensive, so we couldn't stay logged in (read: mgmt cheaped out on them)... logging in was sssslllllloooooowwwww

and they genuinely said they wanted us to log jobs in real time

I worked on an academic journal—every 2-week issue was a different job code

some stuff hadn't even been assigned to an issue yet

hilarity ensued

and productivity tanked... which was of course our fault
