Welcome to #CheckIn for MONDAY 2026-03-30
In the {Northern | Southern} hemisphere, the signs of {spring | fall} are starting for you. Maybe? What are you seeing? I've got that tree outside my window, the one that flowers so nicely two weeks a year, just starting to bud out.
Those two weeks are the only reason that tree lives on....

As far as spring goes ... Our tulips have bloomed and are fading, the tomatoes are sprouted and growing. The gophers are everywhere.
And I finally figured out where the bats are nesting in our house. (They are fairly large bats with grey wings.) I'm going to have to call a service that knows how to safely move them elsewhere. (I like having bats around and want to install a couple of bat houses. But I don't want them in our walls.)

We are also still in a drought (as high as we have seen in regards to the numbers) in our part of the state, despite all the snow and rain we had over the past few months. Yesterday we were under Fire Watch due to extremely low humidity... and yet other days last week we were at painful 90% humidity.
Its being a crazy year for us weather wise.

in reply to CheckIn Posting • •The lake we visited yesterday and like 99% of nature around it was still dormant. Spring is in the air only when the sun comes out. Here and there 1 out of 10 bushes and cherry tree will bloom, others are not quite feeling it. Still a good day outdoors, but at ~4°C you need a thick jacket.

Annual achievement unlocked: the maples are fuzzy!

Lot is a sun-fried, dried-out jumble of overgrowth. Might actually get some progress done now that my new meds seem to be working.

Then came the emerald ash borer. 😟

Yes, all the things are broken here. It is wearing on me.
So many things I wanted to get done this winter are still unfinished, and it will soon be too hot to do them.
