Welcome to #CheckIn for WEDNESDAY 2026-01-07

Last day of the #checkin week. Be nice. Or at least... be interesting.
Tomorrow, you get @Muse
Careful: I hear she's really strict! :stuck_out_tongue:

This post comes to you from @((( David "Kahomono" Frier ))) via the official #checkin posting account. Program note: Please comment, and feel free to Like this post, but please resist the urge to Share/Boost/Repost it. Doing that creates an additional instance of a #checkin post for a given day, and tends to fragment or dilute the conversations.

The CheckIn team is looking for an additional mod with the loss of 2 of us from the rotation - @su ann lim and @Rod Mesa. Please contact @Cass to find out more.

Watching Waiting... Made a New Soup Recipe today (Bacon Soup) for breakfast rotation over the next week. Came out nice, savory and filling.

MTG has now left the Building of the Failing Congress.

Another Republican Congressman, from CA, Doug LaMalfa died on Tuesday during an emergency surgical procedure. He represented CA
s 1st District. the Northern Rural District spanning from the Oregon border down to just north of the capital of Sacramento.

It's likely his seat will remain empty until the state Primary in June.

One by one their control of the house is failing.

May Eris and Hermes Take their revenge upon these criminals and co-conspirators in the grand conspiracy of greed, racism, hatred and cruelty that is the current administration.

Good morning. Still here. cloudy and getting warmer Here. trying to disconnect from the news because everything is so upsetting. we'll try to spend a quiet day without too many interruptions.

Still hot on the trail of my medical records from when I was in the hospital in July which I never saw, which were never connected to the app which I just learned about, and to which my own doctor has no access. When I did my virtual visit yesterday with her I learned that even she doesn't have privileges to get into my records. No one ever told me the results of any of my tests or gave me any information. I was simply treated like a piece of meat during the five days I was there and shipped out to a rehab facility without any information at all about what had happened to me other than that I had had a stroke. I only learned about a week ago that an app for patient access was available, and have spent two days trying to get connected. So dang frustrating!

By accident I watched the first two episodes of Star Trek Voyager yesterday. Rewatched actually, but so much in that I had already forgotten. Neelix hasn't changed, has he.

A snow storm is brewing, as are temperatures clearly below -10C the next few days. I like it, but doggo more frequently complains last few days because grit and ice lumps stick to his paws. I hope colder means this happens less often now.

Also, I modded my Das Keyboard with pudding type keycaps I had bought in an HP yard sale ages ago. Fun! Typing on it now. If you have no idea what this means, it means this:

@Joyce Donahue 😲

discharging you without test results is... unbelievable? unconscionable??

have you spoken to the patient advocate at the hospital?

those patient portals are a blessing and a curse... got mine set up with PCP, got my results, sent in questions, worked great

never have been able to get Mr. Stranger's set up!

I did manage to get his hospital portal set up, but they were unable to connect the info from his previous hospitalization (a couple of years earlier) in their system 🤦‍♀️ he was generated a new patient # since he didn't have an existing portal 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

starting to feel like Don't Know before the barcode

Still working on it @Lisa Stranger

This is complicated the fact that the hospital was bought out and change systems only about a month before I was in. signing up for the patient portal is giving people a lot of trouble because it's somehow still connected to the old organization. The phone and email for help with the portal are both disconnected. I had to fill out and email a form with ID and am waiting to get instructions to set username and password.

All I was told in the hospital was that I needed an MRI. I kind of got the impression after it that they didn't find anything to explain why I had the stroke. However, when I visited the cardiologist in early December after having worn a heart monitor for a month to check for Afib as a possible cause, I noticed in the aftercare notes in my medical network app that he said I had a pontine (brainstem) stroke, which was more information than they told me. That's why I've been trying to see what it was they decided was going on and why they did what they did. To be continued...
