Welcome to #checkin for Monday, August 31, 2026
Good evening/afternoon/morning, everyone, and welcome to today's #checkin. It's the last day of the month, and the signs are clearly ready for autumn. The weather started sunny, but then we got rain and thunderstorms. We really need the water.
Today is Eating outdoor day, I think I'd rather skip that! It's more like staying at home under your blanket!
Otherwise it's a typical Monday.
Do you have or love Mondays more/less than other days?

Blah-Blah, Blah de Blah
Tuesday, Tuesday, So bad to me
Tuesday morning Blah-Blah, Blah de Blah It wasn't as I hoped it would be

I wish it was Sunday,
That's my funday,
an I don't have to run day,
Just another manic Monday
But then again, had the French Revolution had their way, their 10 day workweek would have wreaked havoc. And we'd be arguing about Primidi bring such a drag, or not.

Friday was an evening performance. Saturday we had a matinee and an evening performance. Sunday was another matinee.
MONDAY was my beautiful day off!!!
The shops were quiet. So, I could pick up the groceries in peace. I might also have lunch out and read a book.

It's so easy to make typos. The nice thing about not having an edit button is that the grammar and spelling police of the world really can't dig their claws in, because even they will get caught out upon occasion!
Aren't we all gloriously human! Isn't it cool how we can often turn mistakes into wins! I LOVE fortunate mistakes in my art! It means I get to inadvertently entertain myself!

Easily roasted, indestructible, tasty, tender, productive of tasty broth. The local megamart, alas, is sourcing their rotisserie chickens from somewhere that provides smaller and more expensive ones than they used to sell.
I just noticed I need to do another meat run. A family pack of thighs and a pork butt will last me a couple of months, typically. Sorry, food mammals. If only I didn't hate vegetables. At least the small amount of you that I eat helps me choke down the veg and eat fewer of you than I might. Just in time for another heat wave for the roasting and boiling down. Well, at least it will be in the upper two digits rather than lower three digits Fahrenheit that it was during my last meat prep day.

what I don't understand is how Costco's cooked chickens are soooo good, but their some-assemblies-required chicken is awful 😬 the dog wouldn't even eat it, no joke (and it got to the dog because indiscriminate eater Mr. Stranger would have nothing to do with it either)

Just with the old mechanical typewriter days this is a source of autochthonous entertainment @Muse,no? MOre often than not I am annoyed by this I admit, just like diaspora not offering an edit button is the reason to interface via friendica.

in reply to Christoph S • • •@Carsten Raddatz - I've been playing with Grammarly on one of my laptops.
It is the opposite of Hemingway mode; rather, it pops up continuously, often blocking what I am writing.
It's pretty good with basic spell-checking, and it is useful for things like punctuation and matching verb tense and number. But wow, it is distracting.

in reply to Karl Auerbach • •Distractions are what I don't want. Hard to turn all of these off though.
I find the macOS spellcheck terrifying. It autocorrects a word I have written previously while I'm a word or two further. That is very distracting.
People suggest Quiltbot, but there's got to be a FOSS alternative.
