The best part? There are Pokestops on military bases. So whoever gets a hold of that info has scans of bases too. They’ve played themselves.
I deleted the game when the Saudi company bought it, and happy to say I never scanned even one stop.

For what it's worth, the damned thing kept demanding that I turn on my camera to enable the "more immersive AR experience." I never did. Because I knew it wasn't necessary. So, as far as I know, Niantic never got scans from me.

They never said it was for military applications, but anyone who looked very hard knew the games were just a means to an end. I'm curious how useful it will be given that A) the data is frequently out of date and B) they deliberately excluded sensitive areas from their games.

Collapsed buildings, bomb craters, static defenses, etc won't be on the map and the area may become unrecognizable, making the very expensive drones into paperweights, lost, easy targets. This only has some utility for light civil unrest where the built environment doesn't change much.
The checks will have been cashed by then, so maybe that doesn't matter to the manufacturer.

FUCK NIANTIC and their military industrial partners! We dont even use smartphones anymore.
