e.g., if the (insecure) rsync daemon could be running at the moment, these three should have you covered:
sudo systemctl stop rsync
sudo systemctl disable rsync
sudo systemctl mask rsync
(PS. Yeah, you really shouldn’t be running the rsync daemon. And you don’t need it to use rsync over ssh.)
#systemd #rsync #security
Und: momentan läuft das ganze noch auf der SD-Karte. Da muss noch ein USB-Device ran (Platte, Stick oder SSD). Die Karte wird sonst nicht so lange überleben, fürchte ich.
And one wonders: what problem exactly does that solve that hasn't been solved before?
Why wouldn't I just run a #WebDAV service such as #Nextcloud or an old fashioned #torrent or an #rsync server or any of the dozens/hundreds of already existent and mature protocols? 🤔
Really very nice thing. I guess you can also use #Rsync via the hidden service, but that wouldn't be fast. The thing is, this way you can take the Pi to any place, hook it to the LAN there, wait 5 minutes (max) and SSH into it from all over the world. Off-site backup made easy, just drop the Pi at your grandmothers, hook it up to the router and go.
You can also do this without the external HDD and use a 512 GB micro SD.
