There was a trailer for Shazam!, which doesn't seem morbid (though apparently the whole movie takes place at night), but seems to have that stupid-premise-that-takes-itself-just-a-smidge-too-seriously vibe, which is never good.

@Brian Ó 🐟 I find DCEU a bit all over the place, Justice league seemed to loosen up a bit, mostly the addition of The Flash I suppose, who tended to be the comedy relief, but generally it's dark and gritty, with little humour.

Not that it'll stop me watching Shazam or Aquaman when they come out, I do enjoy the movies, just noting the differing character of the franchises really.

@V. T. Eric Layton How could I object, I'm pretty sure we've encountered each other on G+

And yes, Diaspora, and other federation platforms do use hashtags more extensively than G+, although those were on G+, few used them.

(I'm actually not a Diaspora user, I found I missed being able to edit posts and comments, so moved to Friendica, but since it's federation space, I see and interact on Diaspora as well).

So funny and dark. Just my kind of humor.

@Lil' Beanie Worlds End? Yeah, of the entire trilogy this is the best in my opinion too, and I've seen them all.

I'd still recommend Worlds End though, perhaps more serious than the other two, but still quite dark and funny.

It's the second time I've seen this film pop up in this challenge, and it's on my list too... I may leave it until nearer the end though...

It also prompted me to watch it again tonight... Great film, no matter how many times I watch it.

The Brexit question.

Given today's news from the UK parliament the following comes as no surprise, a No Deal Brexit is part of the biggest power grab committed by the Conservatives on the British people since the Acts of Union. This is the endgame, where the UK government blames the EU for the UK crashing out of the EU, and 'forcing' them to enact 'emergency' powers to govern the mess.

This appears to have been the plan from the beginning, to strip any vestiges of devolution from the other nations in the Union, with Stormont already broken, the Welsh Assembly almost powerless, the Scottish Government in court for defying Westminster, it all begins to make sense.

They want all the power back in their hands, and then they want even more powers to override Parliament itself.

A no deal Brexit would give them the chaos and confusion necessary to enact legislation under the Henry VIII powers, legislation that bypasses the checks and balances of parliament.

Troops on the streets? No problem, emergency legislation takes care of that.
Detention of protesters? No problem, emergency l... show more

The more I read and hear about Brexit the more I see images of the greatest show on earth - The Theresa May Circus. Feel sorry for all those spectators sitting under the big top viewing three rings of nothing but sawdust. How long will they have to wait for the grand finale? The talk of Irish reunification is interesting.

It's a circus, but more likely to turn out to be akin to the Roman circuses after March, complete with people throwing bread to the crowds to keep them entertained and placated....

There are some of us in the UK who've begun to stockpile food, and other preppy equipment, just in case it goes really badly.

It's a bit tough to stockpile medications though, I guess if it gets that bad I'll just have to be more careful over my diet and hope that the inevitable weight loss from food rationing helps with my blood pressure ....

It's not like we can hunt for our food in the UK really, even in Scotland game is not particularly prevalent, even in rural areas.

The grand finale should be March at the latest, but we'll probably know for sure by December/January.

Irish reunification, and Scottish independence is widely discussed here, a no deal Brexit is almost certain to force another Scottish referendum, and with support at around 50% it won't take much to push it higher, a no deal Brexit is highly likely to have many undecideds looking for an exit from the un... show more

Working it out.

So, here I am, basically lurking in here, trying to figure everything out, counting down the months until they shutter Google+ for ordinary users like me.

I doubt I'm the only #Gplusrefugee here, and certainly not the only one wondering exactly how it all works, I'm pretty sure however that only actually engaging in it will it all start to make sense, and I do want it to begin to make sense.

Bit of background: I'm not a coder, I'm eclectically random in my interests, mainly #science, #environment, #science-fiction, #games, #art and #... show more

I welcome to the club!

Welcome to Friendica and on Nerdica.Net!

I've been to Scotland (Invergordon) a few times and really enjoyed the trips, although it always were just for a day.

Basically I like the #pro-independence movement as well, also in Catalunia, because I think that Europe needs to be a Europe of Regions, not a Europe of Nations any more, so that there will be more direct democracy in the EU council and parliament.

Anyway, welcome! :-)
