Given your recent posts about how Steam takes too large of a cut from indie developers, I suppose you would prefer if we bought it on Itch?
in reply to Simon Carpentier

@scarpentier we've got enough wishlists heading into release that momentum on steam probably matters more (to get to the point where steam actually starts showing the game to people)
in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

Are
You going to make a Linux version of the demo, after release? Then I’d test how it will run in a VM.
in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

Sure, and I might buy it even if I can’t run it, just to support you. But if I can check first with a demo, as I’ve never tried gaming in a VM, and it runs, then I’m not even going to think twice.
in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

Yes, should have mentioned, sorry. I was first thinking of running Linux on a flash drive on an old machine, but then I thought of the VM.

Anyway, I’m not in a rush, it was just a general question for the future.

@oscherler we're not planning to have a demo beyond the steam next fest one that got taken down a while ago. Maintaining a demo is a *lot* of work. But I do know there's several people who are going to be trying to do community patches to get Kitsune Tails running on mac

*shared it in her circles*

I don't have the money to spent at games at the moment, so keeping it on my wishlist

in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

This game is *so cute*! I've just finished world 1 and I'm really enjoying it 😁
in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

I got my copy :-). But I'll have to wait a bit until I can go beyond the intro, because we've got visitors 😠
in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

Heya! i think maybe you should make a new post for this as well as because i boosted the original and now i have to unboost it and then reboost it to boost it!
in reply to squibs

@squibbons is this one no good? peoplemaking.games/@eniko/1128…

Kitsune Tails is OUT NOW!! Run, jump, and dash across a land inspired by Japanese mythology and untangle the love triangle between three young women on a journey of self discovery. Explore the complicated relationships between kitsune and humans through classic platforming action.

get it now on steam store.steampowered.com/app/132… or itch eniko.itch.io/kitsunetails

we're a small underfunded team with a majority queer developers, and while we're punching way above our weight class we need the support of our community if this game is going to be a success. please boost this post, and if you can afford it buy it on steam and leave a positive review on the first day (the text doesn't matter, only the thumbs up, so "i like gay fops" is totally valid as a review)

i also want to prove fedi is powerful enough to make an indie game succeed, so even if you're not personally that into the game, please boost this post? 🙏

Just installed it and absolutely loving it! Saphic mario bros is exactly what I needed right now. I also grew up playing platformers on coregrafx and I have delicious throwback moments with the esthetic combined with the buttery smooth gameplay ❤ PS: playing with steam proton on linux and a laptop, no issue whatsoever.

in reply to Sir David Nielsen

@DavidNielsen @stevestreza the community will probably make it playable on mac, but mac is so developer hostile that we can't officially support it, sorry

as for GOG, they're picky as hell, so probably not

in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

@DavidNielsen @stevestreza someone added an entry to GoG's community wishlist for what it's worth: gog.com/wishlist/games/kitsune…
in reply to Eniko | Kitsune Tails out now!

@DavidNielsen @stevestreza Wait, GOG picky? Really? What do you mean? I thought they picked almost everything considering their whole thing is being a shebang of old games XD

I've been putting off activating my new credit card (the first one with my real name on it) due to lack of spoons.

But I finally did it, so this would be the first purchase with it.

... Now to update 500 websites...

How often do players need to hit some controls in a rapid succession in Kitsune Tails?

Is it closer to chill platformers, like Braid and Animal Well? Or to precision platformers, like Celeste and Super Meat Boy? (the extreme end of this spectrum is "I Wanna Be the Guy"/"I Wanna Be the Boshy")

I'm asking, because I just haven't played many platformers and haven't played Mario games since playing bootleg SMB on a NES knock-off in early 2000s.

in reply to andrybak

@andrybak @cutecycle it's kind of in between those, if i had to put it anywhere. the good part is that in kitsune tails there's a playstyle called "a leisurely stroll" where if you die you get instantly revived where you were on a temporary flying cloud. you can also use the shop to buy items and abuse those to get through any spots you're having issues with. we really tried to make the game challenging for veterans but still accessible for people who haven't played platformers in decades and who just wanted to experience the levels and story
